Terms of Service

Effective Date: March 25, 2026  |  Last Updated: March 25, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Grid Authority website located at thegridauthority.com and its subdomains (collectively, the "Site"), operated by Kynect Digital LLC ("Grid Authority," "we," "us," or "our"), a Texas limited liability company.

By accessing the Site, submitting any form, or otherwise engaging with Grid Authority, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and anyone who accesses the Site or submits information to Grid Authority.

2. Services Description

Grid Authority provides energy education resources and program enrollment facilitation services to qualifying Houston-area homeowners. Specifically:

  • Energy Education: Free educational content about Texas electricity pricing, CenterPoint TDU charges, and energy market dynamics
  • S.H.I.E.L.D.™ Program Enrollment: Facilitation of eligibility review and enrollment for qualifying homeowners in the S.H.I.E.L.D.™ (Stabilized Home Infrastructure for Energy & Long-term Dispatch) program, subject to CenterPoint Energy approval
  • Rate Comparison Referrals: Referral connections to retail electric providers operating in the Texas deregulated energy market

Grid Authority is an independent energy education and program enrollment company. We are not a retail electric provider, energy utility, or affiliate of CenterPoint Energy.

3. Eligibility

To use our Site and submit a program eligibility inquiry, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be the homeowner or authorized representative of the property submitted for review
  • Reside in the CenterPoint Energy service territory (greater Houston area)
  • Provide accurate and complete information in all submissions

Submitting false, inaccurate, or misleading information may result in disqualification from program participation and termination of any enrollment.

4. Program Eligibility and Enrollment

Preliminary Qualification Is Not Final Approval. Completing a form on our Site or receiving a preliminary qualification result does not guarantee enrollment in the S.H.I.E.L.D.™ program or any other program. Final program approval is subject to:

  • CenterPoint Energy home assessment and technical feasibility review
  • Program availability and capacity constraints
  • Satisfaction of all program eligibility requirements
  • Execution of a program participation agreement

No Cost Representations. Grid Authority makes no representation that program participation will be at zero cost to you until all program terms have been reviewed and agreed to in a signed participation agreement. Program fees, terms, and structure are disclosed in full during the in-home consultation process, prior to any commitment.

No Guarantee of Savings. While many qualifying homeowners experience bill predictability and reduced exposure to commodity price volatility, Grid Authority makes no guarantee of specific dollar savings amounts. Individual results depend on home characteristics, energy usage, utility rate changes, and program terms.

5. Communications Consent

By submitting your phone number and/or email address through any Grid Authority form, you expressly consent to receive:

  • SMS/text messages from Grid Authority and its automated messaging agents, including appointment reminders, eligibility updates, and follow-up communications
  • Prerecorded or artificial voice messages (ringless voicemail) regarding your inquiry
  • Email communications regarding your inquiry, program status, and related energy information

This consent is not a condition of purchase or program participation. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message or clicking "unsubscribe" in any email.

Standard message and data rates may apply to SMS communications.

6. Accuracy of Information

Grid Authority strives to provide accurate and up-to-date information on our Site, including energy pricing data, program descriptions, and educational content. However:

  • Energy pricing data is sourced from third parties and may not reflect real-time rates

  • Statistical data and averages are provided for educational purposes and may not reflect your individual circumstances

You should not rely solely on information presented on this Site for energy purchasing or financial decisions. We encourage you to conduct your own research and consult with qualified professionals as appropriate.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Grid Authority regarding your use of the Site and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
